Preparation can be the difference between a good session and an amazing one, and it helps you feel confident, relaxed, and ready to enjoy the experience fully.

Preparing for your family photo session is essential to help you feel relaxed, enjoy the experience, and ensure your photos reflect the genuine connection of your family. Here’s a breakdown to make the most of your prep time:
This thoughtful approach ensures that you and your family feel comfortable, connected, and ready to enjoy the session, resulting in photos you’ll cherish for years to come.
This is my fourth year in a row taking this family’s photos. It is the greatest honor for a photographer to be invited back year after year into our clients’ lives.
This family always lets me have creative control over the session. Since this was their 4th session with me, I am familiar with their style!
For years, I’ve had my eye on a particular tree in Rocco Park, New Smyrna Beach. It’s on the way to one of my regular spots, and I’ve always dreamed of doing a session there. When we arrived at our original location and found it occupied by an event, it felt like the perfect moment to finally try this spot. Thankfully, my clients were flexible and excited to pivot. Located across the street from the city airport, we had the added charm of single-engine planes taking off and landing throughout the shoot. We even caught one or two in the background of the photos, adding a unique touch to the session. This session was playful, wonderfully prepared, and the light through the spanish moss was the icing on the cake.
Preparing for your session isn’t about making everything perfect—it’s about creating the right atmosphere so you feel at ease, connected, and ready to enjoy the experience. I’m here every step of the way to help guide you through it, so don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or ideas. Can’t wait to capture some beautiful memories together!
All my love,
Katherine
