If you’re reading right now, you are most likely planning the most important event of your life – Having a baby! So you’ve got your check list out, and you’re probably wondering… when should you book your maternity photos?
First off, reach out to your photographer about booking preferably in the beginning of the second trimester! Personally, I can accommodate later but the beginning of the second trimester is preferable because it allows us time to plan for your maternity photos.
I recommend scheduling the session for when you are between 28-32 weeks, because the bump is prominent but you haven’t made it to the complete uncomfy stage yet. Plus, we don’t want to miss the opportunity if something happens and the baby decides to make an early arrival!
At the end of pregnancy our amazing bodies tend to start swelling especially in the face and while I’m sure there is a scientific explanation, it is not something that most expecting moms want to remember in their photos. I personally always tell my clients that if they feel like their bump isn’t as bumpin’ as they want it to be at the time we scheduled we can always push it back or if they get to a point before their scheduled appointment where they feel their belly is beautiful and are confident, to reach out and we can absolutely reschedule. I want my mamas to feel beautiful and confident in their bodies for their session and I will do everything I can to make sure they feel just that!
Every season is beautiful for maternity photos!
Late summer through early fall due dates will have warm water that we can play in for your maternity photos, and winter through spring will have beautiful crisp skylines on the beaches if you plan to have your session in Florida with me!
Talk to your photographer about the planning stages, locations, and outfits! Whatever season you’re bumpin’, your maternity photos will be glorious just like you.
These boho & beachy maternity photos were taken at Lighthouse Point Park in Ponce Inlet, one of my favorite Florida beaches!
The Avecelli Family demonstrates the perfect timing of when maternity photos should be taken!
I hope whatever season of life that you’re in, you choose to take maternity photos to cherish these short months with that beautiful bump.
All my love,
Katherine
